Immunization Requirements for International Students
International Students who are in the AHC should follow the AHC immunization requirements.
If you are an Academic Health Center student, please call (612) 625-3222 to make an appointment at Boynton's Immunization Clinic.

All new incoming international students must meet immunization requirements listed in the section below titled "Immunization Requirements for All Students". International students must also come to Boynton Health Service for a tuberculosis screening visit with a nurse.
Call 612) 625-3222 to schedule a tuberculosis screening appointment.

At your screening visit, the nurse will ask you a series of questions to determine if you need to be tested. If you have arrived recently from a country identified by the World Health Organization as a country at high-risk, or have any high-risk indicators, you will need to be tested. If you have arrived from a low-risk country, and have no risk factors for tuberculosis, testing may not need to be done.

If the nurse determines you need a tuberculin skin test, the nurse will apply the test to your forearm. This is an injection of a small amount of fluid into the skin. After the test is applied, the nurse will instruct you as to how to care for the test area. You may eat and drink normally.
After your test, you will need to return to Boynton Health Service within 48 to 72 hours to have a nurse review the test site and interpret the test results.

If you prefer to schedule an appointment, a limited number of appointments will be available in Boynton’s Immunization Clinic. Please ask a receptionist or call Boynton’s appointment line at (612) 625-3222.

Immunization Requirements for All Students (Except AHC Students)
Minnesota law requires all students born after December 31, 1956, who enroll in a Minnesota college or university to be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, and rubella. You are responsible for meeting the immunization requirements and holds that may apply to you. You received a student immunization form with your admissions letter. If you are not adequately immunized, you must get immunized against these diseases.

This State law does allow for some exemptions. Individuals who show proof of having had the disease or those who wish to conscientiously object may fill out the appropriate sections of the Immunization Form. Complete the form and return it as soon as possible. Please note that Boynton can provide the immunizations, but they are not covered by the Student Services Fee.

Exemption: All Minnesota High School students who graduated in 1997 or later do not have to turn in an immunization form.

For those who are not exempt, you must turn in your immunization form in order to register for classes. However, you will get a one-semester grace period. It is highly recommended that you get your immunizations and turn in the form before you register for your first semester of classes. A hold will be placed on your record and you will not be allowed to register for your second semester of classes if you have not turned in the immunization form:
