de-stress is a student-led health promotion group helping students manage stress and connect with mental health resources on campus.

Stress Check Ins for Students

Is stress weighing on you? Get non-judgmental, confidential support from trained peer helpers, who know first-hand how stressful college can be.

Schedule a Stress Check In to discuss stressors in your life:

You'll meet one-on-one with a trained student volunteer to learn about stressors, stress management skills and strategies, and get connected with stress management resources.

Appointments are free, and last about 45 minutes.

In Crisis?

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available. If you have significant mental health concerns, please make an appointment at Boynton's Mental Health Clinic or with Student Counseling Services.

Join de-stress as a Peer Helper

Connect with your peers through de-stress! Applications are being accepted for de-stress peer helpers. You will receive training in basic helping skills from Boynton and Student Counseling Services mental health staff. After completing 16 hours of training, you will meet with peers in one-on-one Stress Check Ins to share stress management skills and resources available related to stress and mental health.

Peer helpers include graduate, undergraduate, and international students. Students within all majors and programs of study are welcome to join the team. Students with marginalized identities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Commitment: To be eligible to hold Stress Check Ins your attendance at weekly two-hour training meetings is required. Once trained as a Peer Helper, you are expected to make a two semester commitment to the program, setting aside approximately five hours per week to volunteer with the program.

de-stress Activities

At its weekly meetings and at events around campus, de-stress promotes stress management and mental health awareness (e.g., sleep, roommate conflict, termination of personal relationships, stress management techniques as prevention).
