The University of Minnesota requires all students who
register for six or more credits (three in the summer) and
are admitted to a degree program, to have health insurance.
The type of program you
belong to may indicate the type of health
insurance you should have. Click on the plan
name and find out coverage, benefit or waiver
details.
All AHC students (see list of schools)
will be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Benefit Plan (AHC-SHBP)
starting fall semester 2005. This plan provides easy, affordable
coverage for the unique needs of the students. See waiver or coverage details
Students who do not fall into any of these categories: AHC students,
international or graduate assistants, are eligible for the Student
Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).
All international students will
be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP)
effective September 2003, unless they are covered by a United
States-based employer-sponsored health plan, the Graduate
Assistant Insurance Plan (GA Plan) or Academic Health Center Student
Health Benefit Plan (AHC-SHBP). See
waiver or coverage details
Students who are eligible for extended coverage benefits must have paid
the student services fee and had health insurance in the previous
semester. See eligibility requirements
Students enrolled in the Student Health Benefit Plan during spring
semester will be automatically covered on the Plan through the summer
semester at no additional charge.
