The University of Minnesota requires all students who register for six or more credits (three in the summer) and are admitted to a degree program, to have health insurance.
To determine which plan applies to you, start by clicking on the campus names according to where you attend classes:
Twin Cities Campus

The Student Health Benefits Office currently administers the Student Health Benefit Plan for domestic, international and graduate students. All Academic Health Center students are automatically enrolled in the University-sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP). This plan can be waived if AHC students have their own insurance.

Duluth Campus

Since fall semester 2005, the Student Health Benefits Office has been administering the student insurance plan at the University of Minnesota, Duluth (UMD) campus. This plan is known as the University-Sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).

Crookston Campus

Since fall semester 2005, the Student Health Benefits Office has been administering the student insurance plan at the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) campus. This plan is known as the University-Sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP). With this plan, all services provided at UMC Student Health Services will be covered.

Morris Campus

Since fall semester 2006, the Student Health Benefits Office has been administering the student insurance plan at the University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) campus. This plan is known as the University-Sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).

Rochester Campus

Since fall semester 2006, the Student Health Benefits Office has been administering the student insurance plan at the University of Minnesota, Rochester (UMR) campus. This plan is known as the University-Sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).
