1. College Student Health Survey |
Developed by Boynton Health Service, the College Student Health
Survey was designed to give postsecondary institutions a
comprehensive look at the health of their students. The survey
measures eight key areas: Health Insurance and Health Care
Utilization, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Use, Tobacco Use,
Personal Safety, Financial Health, Nutrition and Physical Activity,
and Sexual Health. With modifications over the years, Boynton Health
Service has administered the College Student Health Survey either at
the University of Minnesota or at partner institutions across the
state of Minnesota since 1995.

2. Core Survey |
|
Boynton Health Service had conducted the Core Survey every two years since
1992. Designed to help measure knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors among
college age students, this survey also examines students’ perceptions about
the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs by their peers, and assesses
students’ awareness of alcohol and other drug education efforts on campus.
Information collected is used to assist in the development of educational
programs. |

In 2005, Boynton extended the Core Survey to include
seventeen Twin Cities area colleges and universities. In 2006,
twelve additional Minnesota colleges and universities were surveyed with the
help of a grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Data from the 2006 survey
was released on November 2, 2006 at the Core
Data Summit. |
