Core Data Release Conference 2005

About The Conference
The 2005 Core Data Release Conference was held on October 25, 2005 at the University of Minnesota. The conference evolved from collaboration among seventeen post secondary institutions including the University of Minnesota, eight two-year public institutions and eight four-year public and private institutions to assess tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and other drug use on their campuses.
The survey - In the spring of 2005 the University of Minnesota Boynton Health Service mailed a modified CORE survey to 16,322 randomly selected undergraduate students on the 17 campuses. Of the 16, 322 students sent surveys, 6,751 completed and returned the survey, and 915 surveys were undeliverable for a response rate of 43.8%.
Data analysis - Data analysis and subsequent report preparation were conducted by Boynton Health Service. The analysis included:
  • assessment of 30 day and past 12 month use rates for tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and other drugs among college students.
  • examination of factors associated with tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and other drug use.
  • exploration of relationship between alcohol and drug use resulting negative consequences
  • an investigation of links between tobacco, alcohol and drug use.
The results - Results for the aggregate data are presented in two reports -  2005 Core Survey Report, University of Minnesota and 2005 Core Survey Report, 17 Schools. College specific reports were also prepared and distributed to each specific college or university.

Note: College specific reports will not be made available through Boynton Health Service.
