Nursing Professional (Women's Clinic Medical Information Nurse)

Hours:

Monday to Friday, arranged.

Job Duties:

Women's Clinic Medical Information Nurse duties:
Work phones in our Women's Health Clinic.
Phone duties will include triage, medication refills, lab results follow-up and health education. In addition, you will be trained to fill in as needed on our Urgent Care triage line. This is a new position and may also include some direct patient care in the future.

Other Clinic Tasks:

  1. Maintain a respectful work environment.
     

  2. Make nursing observations and assess patients.
    -Collect patient data.
    -Interpret collected data to identify patients' health needs.
    -Recognize and respond to emergencies and unplanned situations.
     

  3. Deliver nursing care specific to assigned clinical area(s).
    -Provide care in customer friendly manner.
    -Implement nursing care according to policies, procedures and protocols.
    -Monitor patients throughout treatment.
    -Provide comfort measures to patients.
    -Obtain supplies.
    -Maintain clinical environment.
    -Transport patients as necessary.
     

  4. Perform delegated medical treatments under supervision of licensed physician.
     

  5. Report and record information.
    -Report all information necessary to facilitate continued care of patient by other BHS staff.
    -Document all information necessary to maintain record.
    -Observe established principles of confidentiality and compliance.
    -Report any unusual occurrence per Boynton policies and procedures.
     

  6. Provide culturally competent health education and counseling.
    -Promote patient understanding of health practices or needed care.
    -Identify available health resources matching patients' needs and desires and provide necessary information to patients and health resources.
     

  7. Continually improve systems and processes supporting nursing practice.
    -Attend and participate in staff meetings, classes and in-services.
    -Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA and MERTKA guidelines.
    -Participate in ongoing review of patient care policies, procedures and protocols.
    -Participate in quality improvement projects.
    -Maintain current knowledge of Boynton Health Service patient care improvements and initiatives.

Essential Qualifications:
  1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
  2. CPR certification. GYN Experience/knowledge is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Detailed oriented and ability to work independently.
  2. Expertise in women's health.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
  1. Mobility to work in a typical clinic setting and use standard equipment.
     
  2. Strength and agility to lift up to 25 pounds of force frequently, 50 pounds occasionally.
     
  3. Standing, walking and/or sitting for long periods of time.
     
  4. Some bending, twisting, stooping, and stretching.
     
  5. Requires repetitive hand and wrist motion to operate a keyboard.
     
  6. Possible exposure to communicable disease and medical preparations in the clinic setting.
     
  7. Ability to demonstrate immune status to rubella and hepatitis B.
     
  8. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
     
  9. Ability to push and pull wheelchairs, gurneys, oxygen tanks and IV poles.
     
  10. Ability to perform CPR in an emergency situation
     
  11. Vision to read printed materials and VDT screens and provide necessary patient care.
     
  12. Ability to respond to patient needs in emergency situations.
Salary: $21.96 - $35.13 - DOQ
