ADHD Policy

Boynton Health provides treatment for patients diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as well as screening and guidance for patients who have issues with attention and think they may have ADHD.

Boynton has specific policies for the treatment of ADHD:

Getting Started

If you have previously been diagnosed with ADHD:

  1. Get your records to us before your first appointment in Mental Health or Primary Care. It may take 2 to 4 weeks for your clinic to send records.
  2. If these records are adequate, you can transfer your care to Boynton.
  3. If previous testing or records are inadequate, you will be referred for neuropsychological testing.
  4. Boynton providers will not prescribe stimulant medication for you until records and/or testing are completed and reviewed.
  5. If you need a prescription in the meantime, you should work with your previous prescriber.

If you suspect you have undiagnosed ADHD:

  1. Make an appointment with Mental Health or Primary Care. Make sure the scheduler knows that you have questions about ADHD. Your provider will discuss these issues with you and refer you for neuropsychological testing (if appropriate).
  2. No medication will be prescribed until that testing is completed and reviewed.
