Face-to-Face Health Coaching

Individual and Group Health Coaching

Boynton and the University of Minnesota Wellness Program offer individual and group health coaching. Health coaching will help you create goals for improved wellness while providing accountability and support for achieving those goals. Individual appointments are 30 minutes and group coaching sessions are 50 minutes.

Health coaches have the expertise to help you with:

Eligibility and Wellness Programs

Health Coaching is available to people on the following health plans:

  1. UPlan: faculty and staff members who are enrolled in Medica's UPlan health insurance—and their covered spouses can earn 200 wellness points for the University Wellness Program by attending three individual coaching appointments before Aug. 31. You may substitute one of three individual sessions with one group health coaching session to earn 200 wellness points. However, no points are awarded for attending only group sessions.

    Allow four to six weeks after your third appointment for Wellness Program Points to appear in StayWell Online.

  2. Residents, Fellows and Interns health plans: residents, fellows and interns enrolled in a HealthPartners plan through the Office for Student Health Benefits—and their covered spouses.

  3. Graduate Assistant Health Plan: graduate assistants enrolled in the HealthPartners Graduate Assistant Health Plan through the Office for Student Health Benefits—and their covered spouse.

Nutrition Health Coaching

with Kathryn Kasner, RD, LD or Maggie Vertalino, RD, LD, MPH

Weight control, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and meal planning are just a few topics that fall into the nutrition coach's area of expertise. These sessions can help health coaching participants establish goals as well as provide accountability and support for reaching and maintaining those goals.

Physical Activity Health Coaching

with Margaret A. Belew, MSPT, CWC

The physical activity health coach is also a physical therapist who can help you create a physical activity goal, translate that into an action plan and introduce you to exercises and activities that can help you meet and maintain your goals.

Tobacco Cessation Health Coaching

with ThanhVan Vu, LADC

Thinking about quitting smoking? Want to explore your options for creating a quit plan? The Tobacco Cessation Health Coaching can help you create a customized quit plan that combines nicotine replacement therapy and counseling to increase your success!

Group Health Coaching

with Kathryn Kasner, RD, LD, Maggie Vertalino, RD, LD, MPH or Margaret A. Belew, MSPT, CWC

Group health coaching helps participants explore their personal goals while finding support and shared experiences with other members. Participants will create and commit action plans to achieve their goals. Sessions are limited to 12 people per session.

All sessions are held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. at Boynton’s East Bank clinic.
