If you think you drink too much or if you are just interested in ways that you
can drink less so you can avoid some of the
consequences associated with
alcohol misuse there are a number of actions you can take. The most important is
to remember that
drinking is a choice and you should not drink if you do not want to. For
other suggestions please see the links below.
How you and your friends can reduce alcohol overdose
avoid drinking games, multiple
shots, beer bongs, shot-gunning, keg standing
and other ways of getting drunk quickly
avoid drinking on an empty
stomach
limit yourself to one drink per
hour
pay attention to how much your
friends drink and intervene if they have too
much
drink water, soda or juice
between alcoholic drinks
stop drinking when you have
reached your limit
don't mix drinking and driving,
plan how you will get home if you have had too
much to drink
Very often, someone who dies from alcohol overdose
passes out and is allowed to "sleep it off". This is
a mistake. Anyone who drinks so much that they
become unconscious should receive immediate medical
attention.
